Defenders of the Doriath

It took long to draw this picture. I was inspired mostly by Tolkien's "Silmarillion".

Oprichnik

An oprichnik was a member of an organization established by Tsar Ivan the Terrible to govern the division of Russia known as the Oprichnina (1565-1572). They dressed in black garb, similar to a monastic habit, and bore the strange insignia of a severed dog's head (to sniff out treason and the enemies of the Tsar) and a broom (to sweep them away). The dog's head was also symbolic of "nipping at the heels of the Tsar's enemies." They were sometimes called the "Tsar's Dogs" on account of their loyalty to him. They also rode black horses in order to inspire greater terror.

My first character design expirience

Few weeks ago our local newspaper called "Inside" offered me the post of illustrator. They needed a character for New Year. They said it must be a rabbit, as a symbol of 2011.
So, as I learned in books, I started from few kinds of different views of character:

I sent them this .jpg and they chosen the left one. So then I worked with him. I drawn him fron three sides and have some work with emotions:

New job - new pictures
